The “Ringed” Lady

herculaneum

The “Ringed” lady is one of, if not the most popular individual skeleton found in Herculaneum. She is called the “Ringed” lady because you can plainly see rings present on her skeletal hand. This skeleton has been depicted on the cover of National Geographic magazine in May of 1984. The magazine contained an article titled The Dead Do Tell Tales at Vesuvius briefly describing the “Ringed” lady and the skeletal collection found on the beach of Herculaneum.
